Photo Gallery -- Lompoc CA

These are photographs taken by our club members and walkers at the Lompoc, CA, year round event (YRE 430). We hope they give you an idea of how pretty the Lompoc area is. It's logo -- City of Arts & Flowers -- well describes the local agriculture (many flower fields) and artistic community (scores of murals). Come see for yourself!

**June 15, 2002**
The Bodger Seed Company planted a 6.5 acre field of red, white and blue larkspurs in the shape of an American flag. On the day after Flag Day ceremonies at the field, (l to r) John Fletcher, Owen Holzborn, and Bill Uttenweiler made the steep climb up to Inspiration Point to see the flag. The Bodger Seeds folks also planted a field of flowers in the shape of a flag as a patriotic gesture during World War II. This mural, just a block from the YRE start/finish, commemorates that earlier flag.	After huffing and puffing up to Inspiration Point, the trio still had the stamina to climb to the gazebo in Beattie Park, on the other side of down. Bu then the sun had come out. What a view! The party didn't have any birdwatchers this time, but Owen still found some wildlife to photograph -- this 3' long gopher snake that slithered across their path as they descended from the gazebo. **April 8, 2000**
Walkers start out on a foggy day in Lompoc. The smiles on their faces show how glad Gwen Coxon (l) and Bill Uttenweiler are to reach Inspiration Point at the top of Bodger Road! It didn't take them long to sit down, or for Dorretta Bowman (c) to join them! Larry Lee (r) join Bowman and the Shiltons briefly before heading back down. Back at the start/finish, the Southside Coffee Company, to stamp their books and grab a soda and/or a snack!	A block later everyone is still all smiles. (Note the mural covering the side of the building in the background. Lompoc boasts many such murals. (l to r) Bonnie Shilton, Bill Shilton, and Bill U look out over the Lompoc Valley.
