Pismo Beach Mayor Rudy Natoli (R) presents
CCPP President Bill Uttenweiler with the
proclamation for May 4, 5 & 6, 2001, as
"Central Coast Volkssport Days."

Over 170 individuals participated in at least
one event during the weekend.

The Shell Beach Palisades 6 and 10 km walk
went along beautiful scenes such as this. It
was the only event open all three days.

The Shell Beach Palisades event went past
the Old Vienna Restaurant, which was to
be the sight of the CVA's 2001 business
meetings.
Business meetings may never be the same!
This one was held outdoors, with German
(and American) food -- and beer!
Liz Mitchell (L) of Volks-Ware sold tee-
shirts and other volksmarch specialities on
Saturday. But she and her husband walked
on Friday and onSunday.

Saturday night we gathered at Corcoran's
Restaurant for prime rib and chicken, and
an interesting presentation on California
geology and the great San Francisco earth-
quake by George Mason.

Here "Bill U." muggs for a picture with
Veronica (L) and Annette Fletcher at our
finish point. Annette will be our president
in 2001 - 2002.
CVA conventions rotate from region to region.
In 2000 it was held in the Central Region -- Los Gatos. The CCPP
is at the far north end of the South Region. The 2002 convention
will be sponsored byt he Vaca Valley Volks of Vacaville, CA. |
We used the Sea Crest Resort Motel as out
start/finish. Many of the conventioneers
stayed
there during the two nights/three days.

Many pople did more than one event; in all,
442 start/finish cards were issued!
(Before-
hand, we'd set a goal of at least 320.
Only at
the event opening on Friday afternoon
did we
have long lines.

This gazebo gives a beautiful view of the
pier at Pismo Beach, part of the "Pismo
Hilltop
& Pier" route, which was open Saturday
and
Sunday.

What meeting doesn't have a table to check
the
credentials of the delegates?

Some of the delegates even listened to the
speakers!

On Sunday, most walkers did the "Sunset Pal-
isades Walk." Many didn't realize
until they
got to Pismo Beach that the route overlooked
Pirate's Cove, San Luis Obispo county's
only
"clothing optional" beach -- though as
you can
see, all our walkers WERE clothed.

After the dinner, the CVA gave our President
a teeshirt with the convention patch.

CVA President Herb Webber (L) and his wife
Lillian relax, another fine convention
com-
pleted. Herb will carry the CCPP's
proxy to the
AVA Convention in Bellevue, WA. |
